The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to extend the experiment on the labeling of dairy products.
The agency recalls that the deadline for the introduction of mandatory labeling of dairy products by means of identification was set on June 1, 2020, and a ban on the circulation of dairy products without marking was set on December 1, 2020.
At the same time, an experiment is being conducted on the labeling of dairy products. The rules for its holding were approved by the government decree of June 29, 2019 No. 836. The experiment expires March 31, 2020. Manufacturers, importers of certain types of dairy products, organizations of wholesale and retail trade, and the food industry participate in the experiment on a voluntary basis.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade explains that so far only 100 of more than 6,000 dairy producers are participating in the experiment. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is confident that the time gap between the end of the experiment and the start of mandatory labeling will deprive the experiment participants of a number of significant advantages. In this regard, the Ministry proposes to extend the experiment on the labeling of dairy products until May 31, 2020.
