The board of directors of the regulator decided to reduce the key rate by 0.25 percentage points. From June 17, it will be 7.50% per annum. This decision contributed to the reduction in inflation. In March, annual inflation passed the local peak (5.3%), and in April it began to slow down. In May, its annual rate was 5.1%.
Given the slowdown in inflation (following the results of 2019, it may be at a level below 4%) and weak economic growth (0.5% of GDP in annual terms in the first quarter of this year), in the second half of the year we can expect a further decrease in the rate. Note that the next meeting will take place on July 26.
