The Central Bank of the Russian Federation retained the key rate at the level of 7.75% per annum. The corresponding decision was made by the board of directors of the regulator on February 8, 2019.
Recall that in 2018, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation twice raised the key rate, explaining its decisions by changing external conditions and a significant increase in inflation risks.
Today, the CBR decided not to change the key rate. The regulator explained its decision by the fact that the balance of risks is still shifted towards inflation, especially in the short-term horizon. There is also uncertainty about the further development of external conditions and the price dynamics for certain food products.
The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, at which the question of the level of the key rate will be considered, is scheduled for March 22, 2019.
